Walks & Offa's Dyke Path
Prestatyn offers good walking tracks and footpaths with magnificent views from Gwaenysgor (Prestatyn Hillside Viewpoint) of the North Wales coastline, our beautiful countryside and our excellent Beaches Hotel. On a clear day, in this panoramic view you can see as far as Blackpool Tower, The Isle of Man and the hills of the Lake District.
Birdlife includes kestrels, skylark, stonechat and red grouse, “don’t forget your Binoculars”.
River and Castle Wall Route
Enjoy the spectacular views of the Vale of Clwyd with all its wildlife. This walking route leads you along the river Clwyd to Rhuddlan Castle. You can start this walking route from Brickfield Pond or the RSPCA hut in Rhyl. Approximately 2 ˝ hours.
The Way of the Trains Walk Route
A wonderful walk along an old railway line. The Prestatyn to Dyserth walk route takes you from the centre of Prestatyn town into the Countryside. The route is a 2 ˝ mile path and is suitable for all ages. The way of the trains walk route mostly follows the edge of the steep limestone hills that rise up from the Vale of Clwyd. While in the vicinity of Dyserth call and see the Waterfalls, this is not to be missed.

Offa's Dyke Path

The Delightful 177 Mile/ 285 km Journey of the Offa's Dyke Path through the borderlands of England and Wales truly offers something for everyone. Whether you are looking for a gentle stroll for an hour or two, or wish to undertake the whole Trail over a couple of weeks or more, a memorable walk amid spectacular countryside is guaranteed.
The Landscape is always stunning, from the riverside meadows of the Wye and Severn Valleys to the Peaceful rolling Hills of Shropshire and Powys and the dramatic heather clad uplands of the Black Mountains and the Clwydian Range.
The Path passes through or near to many Historic towns, including Chepstow, Monmouth, Hay-on-wye, Kington, Welshpool. Oswestry, Llangollen, Mold, Ruthin, Denbigh and Prestatyn.
Along the way you will discover Majestic Castles, quiet country churches, enigmatic Iron Age Hillforts and enticing country pubs, and of course the Trail frequently follows the impressive Offa's Dyke itself. This amazing hand-dug bank and ditch was built in the 8th century by command of King Offa of the ancient Anglo-Saxon Kingdom of Mercia. it was probably intended to divide Mercia from rival Kingdoms in what is now Wales, and some sections still form the England/ Wales border today.
