Chester Zoo is one of the UK’s largest and most popular zoological gardens with 35,000 animals, 500 different species, 5 national plant collections and 128 acres for you to discover. Perhaps you could drop in to Chester Zoo on the way to and from Prestatyn or plan a great day out while visiting North Wales.

Suitable for all ages, and open all-year round there’s something to see and enjoy in this vast charitable zoo that looks after some of the most endangered species on the planet. As seen on Channel Four’s ‘The Secret Life of the Zoo’, the animals live in carefully and lovingly managed and sympathetically designed habitats.

As well as the incredible wildlife Chester Zoo has award-winning gardens including the beautiful Plant Paradise. During your visit, not to be missed are 1,500 cacti or the insect eating Nepenthes. For Orchid lovers, the National Collection of Orchids is available to view by prior appointment only on 01244-380280 or wander through the Madagascar Grasses where you’ll find a water feature hideaway and a perfect place to capture a selfie.
