The Snowdown Mountain Railway

The Snowdown Mountain Railway offers two train services, the diesel train and the Heritage Steam Experience (Booking for 2023 open now)

The journey takes in the Afon Hwch River, viaducts, waterfall, gorges, abandoned cottages, the ruined farm of Helfa, remnants of medieval settlements and black Volcanic rock. You’ll climb to 1,085 metres above sea level in the comfort of your carriage.

During busy periods such as school holidays and spells of fine weather this popular train service can sell out weeks in advance, so it’s always better to pre-book before travelling to Llanberis Station to avoid disappointment.
