Criccieth Castle was originally built under the powers of Llewelyn the Great & his Grandson, Llewelyn the Last and was overtaken by King Edward I in the Welsh battles.
Criccieth is a beautiful seaside resort on Cardigan Bay, known as the “Pearl of Wales on the shores of Snowdonia”. There’s so much more to explore in addition to the castle.
The castle stayed in English hands till around 1404 when it was eventually burnt down by Owain Glyndwr who made the town it stands in Welsh once more.
