The Rhythm of the Tide
A Poetry & Creative Writing Weekend.
There is a specific kind of silence found where the dunes meet the Irish Sea. At the edge of Prestatyn, the landscape is in constant flux—a perfect mirror for the creative process. This retreat is designed for those who wish to slow their internal clock to the pace of the tide. Here, we don’t just write about nature; we let the salt, the wind, and the vast horizon dictate the meter of our work.
The Four Pillars of the Retreat
-
The Peripatetic Prompt
Movement stirs the mind. We begin each day with “Observation Walks” through the National Nature Reserve. You will learn to use the coastal edge as a metaphor for transition, capturing the fleeting imagery of the dunes before it shifts with the wind.
-
Generative Craft Workshops
Led by acclaimed guest poets, these sessions move beyond the basics. We dive into sensory precision—how to translate the specific “crunch” of shale or the “hiss” of a retreating wave into evocative, sharp-edged verse.
-
The Writer’s Pod & Solitude
Writing requires a sanctuary. We provide reserved, sea-view “Pods” throughout the hotel lounges. Each is equipped with a bespoke Writer’s Kit: heavy-weight paper, a fine-liner pen, and a curated selection of Welsh poetry for inspiration.
-
The Evening Hearth & Oral Tradition
Poetry is meant to be heard. Our evenings conclude with informal firelight readings in a private suite. Share your drafts in a supportive environment or simply listen to the rhythmic traditions of the North Wales coast.
